I’m a fractional Chief Product Officer. I work with venture-backed and high-growth software companies (SaaS, AI, fintech, ecommerce, healthtech) that need senior product leadership. The kind that actually ships, not the kind that leaves a strategy document behind.
Twenty years of my career have been spent at the intersection of product, engineering, and the P&L. I’ve founded companies, launched 0-to-1 AI-native platforms, scaled a mobile app past a million users in under twelve months, and owned $80M+ P&Ls inside established software businesses.
Before going fractional I led product at Data Axle, First National Bank of Omaha, OtterBox, Digital River, WorldView and Summitsoft, in CPO, VP Product and innovation-lead capacities. I ran an $83M subscription platform, modernized bank card issuance, and built consumer hardware and mobile products that had to survive real retail shelves. The portfolio has the visual record.
Along the way I’ve been a founder with limited runway and an executive with a board deck due Friday. That combination is the whole reason this practice works: I know what good positioning looks like, what healthy unit economics feel like, and what it takes to build a product organization that doesn’t depend on one heroic person.
Fractional means part-time. It does not mean distant. I embed: in your Slack, in your standups, in your leadership meetings, reviewing the roadmap and talking to your customers. Ten to twenty hours a week, with real authority and real accountability for outcomes.
I take on a small number of companies at a time so each one gets genuine attention. Engagements typically run three to six months at a minimum, and most run longer. When you’re ready for a full-time CPO, structuring the org for that handoff is part of my job, not a threat to it.
Software exists to solve real human problems and deliver measurable business leverage. Velocity is a strategy; perfect plans executed late lose to good plans executed fast. And shipping fifty tickets a sprint means nothing if conversion, retention and margin don’t move.
I also stay hands-on with the stack. Modern AI tooling, agentic workflows, API and data architecture. I keep building so my advice stays grounded in what’s actually true this year.
Omaha. Family. A long-running habit of taking apart problems, and occasionally hardware, until they make sense. I’m a passionate product builder and I’m constantly building: mobile apps, SaaS applications, small tools I ship for the fun of it. Recognized as a Global CPO Top 20 nominee and a CES Innovation Award winner, though the work I’m proudest of is usually the team that outlived my involvement.
